The Black Fly Gravel Ride

The Black Fly Gravel Ride

Get ready for the 3rd annual Black Fly Bike or Trail Run – it’s gonna be a wild ride!
Here’s the lowdown:
Buckle up for the third round of the Black Fly gravel grinder! Free camping all weekend, a kickass course (no mud wrestling this year!), and views so good they’ll make your eyeballs high-five. Plus, we’ve got feed zones with treats like homemade Amish donuts, maple syrup shots, and a reindeer farm. Finish uphill at the gorgeous Little Farm at Willoughby, share a cold one from Red Barn Brewery, and recharge with grub from The Spicy Spoke food truck. Stick around for the evening shenanigans with lawn games and a barn dance that’s basically a must-attend masterpiece.
We’re all about supporting local farms and businesses while nudging you to embrace the great outdoors. Speed demons and Sunday cruisers alike, everyone’s welcome. No timing – just good vibes and safety first. Sorry, no refunds or time travel transfers!
What’s in the goodie bag:
Grassroots vibes
Custom number plate
FREE camping for the whole circus
Morning coffee for the brave
Made-to-order egg sandwiches (for the campers)
A wedding barn venue on 1000 acres (because why not?)
Classic Vermont dirt roads
Feed zones stocked with local delights (maple syrup shots, donuts, jams, and more)
Clearly marked course (we’ll even hand you a GPX file)
Post-race feast by The Spicy Spoke
Red Barn Brewery & Athletic Brewing NA for hydration purposes
Music and a barn dance that’ll make your grandma jealous
Homemade pies and cookies that might just change your life
The course:
It’s a 45-ish mile masterpiece of epic landscapes, featuring springtime views that’ll make you feel like a nature wizard. A gravel bike is recommended for speed demons, but a hardtail mountain bike will do the trick. No pressure to set a land-speed record – you’ve got all day, just be back before the barn dance kicks off! And yes, we’ve banished the muddy Class IV section because we’re all about good, clean fun.
Camping/Lodging:
Camp like a champ on Friday and Saturday at the venue. If you’re not into the whole tent thing, crash at a local Airbnb or Burke Mountain Resort. And if you’re feeling fancy, there are other hotels in the area.
After-party Barn Dance (6 pm – 10 pm):
The fun doesn’t end with the ride! Join the local legends for a barn dance in the wedding barn, fueled by Red Barn Brewing, local food trucks, and enough lawn games to make you question your athleticism. Riders get in free because you’ve earned it!
