Baan Thai Cuisine
Six partners took their love of Thai food to create a unique, local eating destination in Newport. The six are a diverse group that includes the city's mayor, an artist, developer, financial guru, and most importantly, local Thai chef Rasamy Poulima of Newport City. Born in Laos, a country snuggled between Thailand and Vietnam, Poulima speaks Thai and grew up eating Thai cuisine.
Thai cuisine emphasizes fresh vegetables, seafood and meats. The flavors include lime, lemon grass, ginger and garlic in a unique blend that can be mild to very spicy. All meals feature rice or noodles. The soups are communal affairs.
Baan Thai Cuisine is open for lunch and dinner six days a week, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. ~ Closed Tuesday ~
